About Me

My name is Andrew Stevenson, and I am a fully qualified, BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. I provide therapy remotely and from my office in Birmingham, and I also offer clinical supervision.

I have over 15 years of experience in psychology and mental health, including 10 years working within the NHS and the past 5 years in private practice. My qualifications include a First Class Honours BSc in Psychology, an MSc with Distinction, and specialist postgraduate training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

I have also been providing clinical supervision to other CBT practitioners for the past five years and am trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Throughout my career, I have supported adults aged 18 to over 90 from a wide range of backgrounds, helping people with a broad spectrum of emotional and psychological difficulties. Today, much of my work focuses on supporting individuals experiencing burnout.

What to expect

My approach is structured and focused. In our sessions, you can share your concerns and fears in a safe and confidential space, and I will work with you to understand what is going on.

We will then create a clear plan, put that into action, and focus on maintaining progress or preventing relapse, so that you can continue moving forward.

I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), the most evidence-based approach, and work with you to resolve problems as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Clients often describe me as down-to-earth, practical, and empowering. My aim is for you to leave therapy feeling more resilient, more confident, and better able to cope.

There is very little I have not heard before. If you feel nervous or unsure about sharing your concerns, please be assured that I will treat everything with the utmost discretion and without judgement.

My starting point is that people are doing their best to cope in difficult circumstances, and I will work alongside you.

Accreditation

I am an accredited member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), the governing body for this form of therapy.

This means I am bound by a code of professional practice and an ethical framework, similar to a doctor.
